Should You Hire a Wedding Videographer?

Should you hire a wedding videographer? This common question often comes late in the planning game but is so important when deciding the budget and figuring out what your priorities are for your wedding. Venue, floral design, catering, and photography are some of the wedding vendors that a couple definitely intends on hiring. But video? Well, that’s another story. Not all couples intend on hiring a videographer to capture their day. However, it’s often the biggest regret that people have when reflecting back on their wedding. That’s why we want to share why investing in wedding cinematography is one of the best decisions you will make.

Videography is something that you should not only want for your wedding, but that you should deem necessary. As a cinematography company, we capture those emotional moments that photography simply can’t. Our work helps tell your story and truly allows you to relive one of the best days of your life. There’s nothing like hearing your vows again or listening to your father’s tear-jerker speech on repeat. We could talk all day long on why we think you need a videographer for your wedding day. However, we also want to share some of our fellow vendor’s and client’s opinions.

“It brings you back to the whole experience”

We worked with Kelly and Zack on their beautiful wedding day at Bridal Veil Lakes. We loved hearing their thoughts on why they’re so happy they invested in videography. They said, “When you get your wedding film back and you get to relive the emotion and the joy, it’s priceless. It’s not just an object or something to look at that reminds you slightly of your wedding day. It brings you back to the whole experience, which is just something that nothing else can capture.” Kelly and Zack are so right! Wedding films truly transport you back to that moment, letting you relive the emotions you felt all over again.

“The best investment we made was with Moving Pictures”

We had an absolute blast filming Tyler and Shawn’s wedding day and loved learning their story. When reflecting, they said, “Moving Pictures is able to capture things that photographers definitely wouldn’t be able to capture. During these events, context is so incredibly important. A photographer can capture moments, but there’s no context. There’s no placement in the setting, there’s no placement in the day. Whereas a videographer can capture that and tell the complete story.”

Authentic storytelling is something we pride ourselves on. Our unique photojournalistic and unobtrusive style tells the complete story of a couple and their wedding day in an artistic, compelling way. Our films even stir emotions in viewers who don’t know the couple. We want to get to know our clients and learn their story. This helps us create a film that is authentic to them.

“Once your wedding is over, if you haven’t had videography you can’t go back. You can’t get those moments again.”

If you’re not sure if videography is right for you, ask your wedding planner for their professional opinion. Shauna Karver from J29 Events said, “When I’m trying to talk to clients about video, sometimes clients are on the fence about videography. Or maybe they’re not too sure what exactly it is. I usually try to describe it to them as capturing the moments photography can’t. Photography can capture so much and video captures so much more.”

These are once-in-a-lifetime moments that you will not get back. It’s essential to have them captured in a way that resonates with you and tells your beautiful story. Wedding films are truly a time capsule for one of the most important days of your life.

Wedding videography is such a necessary investment. It captures your unique story and allows you to relive one of the best days ever. It’s not what it means to you today, but it’s what it will mean 10, 20, 30 years from now. Hearing the toasts, experiencing the excitement and emotion of your first look again, reliving all those little moments between your family and friends— it’s all there! Being able to bring yourself back to those feelings and emotions you felt on the day is something we cannot recommend enough. If you’re on the fence about hiring videography, remember this: You may regret not hiring a videographer, but you will never regret making that decision to have your day memorialized in a film you and your family will cherish forever.

  1. That’s a good point that a video of your wedding would be much more valuable later on in life than it is now. I would like to be able to relive that with my wife again down the road. I’ll have to talk to my fiancee about getting someone to film the wedding for us.
