What’s the filmmaking process like?
First, we want to get to know each of you and learn your story. In doing so, we can create a film that is the most authentically You that it can be. Since each of our films are meticulously handcrafted, we limit our production number each year. This gives us more time with each individual client and allows us to create not only a film, but a piece of art. Collections are generally tailored to the individual, but a typical approach to our popular collections includes 8-10 hours of coverage with two cinematographers. We also offer same-day edits and extended pre-wedding coverage, such as a rehearsal dinner.
If you make time to visit the studio, we can take you through everything we do in person. Or give us a call!
How do we reserve our date?
Reserving your date couldn’t be simpler. We do everything online, so once you review your collection and accept the terms of your agreement, you’ll sign a contract electronically and send in your retainer. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Amex, or Discover. Alternatively, you could mail a check to our studio. The retainer fee is 30% of the total price, which secures your date and gets you one step closer to your film!
We function on a first come, first serve basis.
We don’t want a production made of our wedding day. How are you able to get all these moments without us or our guests noticing?
Moving Pictures takes a fly-on-the-wall approach when it comes to capturing your day. You’ll actually notice your photographer more than you’ll notice us! We don’t set up shots, and we don’t have cameras in anyone’s face, so there’s absolutely nothing to worry about. We’ve actually lost count with how many times clients have mentioned they barely noticed us on the day.
How far do you travel and will it cost us extra?
We travel all over the world. In addition to filming weddings all over the United States from coast to coast, we’ve been to Mexico, Switzerland, Belize, and St. Thomas, so we’ll go wherever you’ll have us! If the event is outside of the Portland metropolitan area, we do ask that you cover our travel expenses, which will be custom built into your collection.
How long does it take to get back our wedding film?
Something we pride ourselves in at Moving Pictures is that we get your film back to you sooner than anyone else. If you do your homework, you’ll find that most studios take between 9 and 12 months to get your film back to you. We feel that is unacceptable. We create your wedding film and deliver it to you and your family between 3 and 5 months depending on when in the wedding season your date falls on. Typically, we deliver your film on a custom USB flash drive, but we do have DVDs or Blu-Rays available for purchase as well.
Do you offer photography as well?
No, we don’t, but we can recommend some amazing photographers that we work with frequently that are just as good at their craft as we are with ours. We want to focus on what we do best: telling your stories; and we don’t want to water down your cinema or photo experience by trying to offer both. Let us know if you need some recommendations.
