PORTLAND, OREGON
SEPTEMBER 27, 2017
The opportunity to work with a talented group of creatives doesn’t come along often, so when Oregon Bride Magazine asked us to produce a promotional video for their upcoming Urban Unveiled bridal show, we didn’t hesitate to jump on board! Oregon Bride’s theme for 2017 was ‘Enchanted Forest,’ and from here we had creative freedom to translate this theme into a compelling film.
A few concept and location scouting sessions later, our idea of a groom finding his way through a mystical forest toward his bride began to take shape. We stumbled across the Audubon Society’s lush forested property and found this to be a prefect (and convenient) location with enough variety in terrain and scene environments that would work for this narrative.
Working on a short timeline (three weeks to be exact) to go from concept to final delivery was doable (considering we offer same-day edits!) However, being a narrative film and working with actors and vendors, the shoot become more of a typical video production, changing the overall scope of the project. Fast forward a few days, more vendors jumped on board, helping the vision in our heads come to life with the most amazing details from some seriously creative people.
Call time was 5:30 a.m. on a chilly fall morning. Makeup artist M’chel Bauxal-Gleason got started on hair and makeup with the talent as our crew headed into the woods to stage and set up for the first scene. As the sun came up and began to illuminate the forest floor, we started filming with the groom. The shoot ran smoothly all morning with everyone providing support and much-needed coffee as we continued to work our way through the shot list. Experimental Vintage brought in a beautiful rug for the groom to lay on, and West Coast Event Productions provided perfectly enchanting props. Francoise Weeks created the stunning woodland headpiece worn by the bride, as well as the groom’s bowtie (made completely out of tiny succulents!) and the forest girl’s flower crown. The beautiful gowns were styled and hand picked by Anna’s Bridal. A few takes and several more cups of coffee later, we wrapped by early afternoon. Back at the studio, our post-production team spent the next few days in the editing room piecing the story together, finding the right music to fit the feel and look we were wanting.
What started as only a theme came to fruition in a video we are proud to have produced. Working with all the incredible vendors made for a fun shoot that we would surely do again. We have to tip our hats to Oregon Bride’s team for bringing such a hard-working group together!
